PROOF of LIFE
Yes, another stupid “proof of life” post. I guess because I’ve been stupid busy. I’ve been an engineer for ten years now. It’s weird how it simultaneously feels like forever and only a short while. I honestly can’t explain it very well. I guess you could say I’ve found my groove. I was recently promoted somewhat. Our engineering team is tiered based on experience, and I recently attained the highest level an engineer can hold at my company. It’s a nice feeling, but it’s also sort of anxiety inducing. Is this it? Is this the highest I can go? I dunno. I guess I should worry less about that and more about treading water at my current level. I have a lot to be grateful for. My life is a charmed one, honestly. I don’t punch a clock. I have endless computers and gadgets to entertain me. I don’t get hassled about working from home. I have a good amount of freedom at work. I have a wonderful marriage and the best wife in the universe. I get to spend every day with my best friend. I like that as I add things to the list they only get more amazing. I’m at a point in life where I could complain, but even I would be critical of the whining. It’s so unnecessary. I’m at a point in life where I don’t travel as much as I used to for work. The heavy work travel used to serve a purpose for me. It got me out of a chaotic household. But now the home I have is my sanctuary. It’s the center of my peace in life. Traveling for work serves only to disrupt my peace nowadays, and I’m grateful that sometimes I get to take my wife with me. I never imagined I would have a life like this one day. I never realized my best friend was just out there waiting for me to drop into her life so we could be a team and make our dreams come true together. Honestly, if you’re wondering why I don’t write much, it’s because I’ve always used writing to cope with negative thoughts or feelings. It was something introduced to me early on in life when my dad died, and counselors were teaching me ways to cope with hardships in life. Writing became my favorite and sometimes only outlet. It was only ever really therapeutic to write away the negativity, so most of my writing had been little other than a dump of the negativity I needed to shed in life. I just don’t have that negativity in my life anymore. I’m free of pretty much every absurdity that was ever foisted upon me. So that’s the big reason my writing has tapered to almost nothing. I have to force myself to write about the good, because I don’t have a problem with the good. I don’t need to release it onto some page to lift the volume and heaviness from my heart and dole it out to the page. That’s not to say my life is perfect, no life is perfect. I could stand to win the Powerball at some point. I guess that would be perfection for me. Give me an early retirement and I’d never be able to complain again. Well, I think I have sat here staring at the next line long enough. I really can’t think of anything more to say. Life is good. Life is great, honestly. What more is there to say?
