So I have a couple extra laptops laying around and I’ve decided to give CachyOS a spin. Excellent fucking distro, I have to say. I’ve never really consistently run Arch at all outside of my Steamdeck, but CachyOS has been goddamned excellent. I fucking love it. The BORE scheduler makes this thirteen year old hardware feel like it was made yesterday, not yesteryear. The hardware support is excellent. I haven’t yet found any instances of software or packages that I can’t obtain easily with either pacman or paru.

I’m not yet used to fish as a default shell, though. Somme of the terminal defaults are excessively flashy and/or kind of ugly, but whatever. Those are really minor gripes compared to the things I’ve really enjoyed running this OS. I honestly haven’t picked up MacOS in over a week. Linux on the desktop has really come far. I mean, really fucking far.

I think the worst part of it so far was Wayland, but I don’t think CachyOS can be blamed for Wayland’s shortcomings. It just isn’t ready for primetime, and I’ve heard that time and time again before even picking CachyOS up. So it neither surprised me nor put me off the OS.

Anyways, I fucking love this shit. It’s awesome.
